BA RIA – VUNG TAU (VNS) — The border police of 10 southern provinces and the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre III in Ba Ria-Vung Tau yesterday signed an agreement on sea rescue missions.

The new agreement clearly defines the responsibilities of these agencies on sharing information on marine accidents and emergency situations.

It also emphasises the need to designate a single agency to coordinate activities in rescue missions that involve several agencies.

The training of rescue staff will also be enhanced.

Last year, these agencies handled 57 rescue missions, saving 344 lives. — VNS
