Government announces railway discounts for special social groups

HA NOI (VNS) — Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, dioxin victims, former revolutionary fighters and the disabled can now avail various discounts while purchasing railway tickets, as per a government decree passed today.

The railway discounts will vary from 30 to 90 per cent, depending on who is buying the ticket.

Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, former revolutionary fighters who were active prior to 1945, are entitled to a 90 per cent discount, while war invalids, dioxin victims and the disabled will be entitled to a 30 per cent discount.

A maximum of two children, aged below six, may also ride the train free of charge on the condition that they will be accompanied by the adult, who purchased the ticket. — VNS
