HA NOI (VNS) -- Nguyen thi Lan Huong, 41, will work most of the time during Tet.
She is among those who provide essential services for the city during the holidays, when the workload is usually even heavier than on normal days.
An employee of the Ha Nội Department of Urban Sanitation and Environment for 23 years, Huong currently works two shifts: from 6am to 12pm and 3pm to 11.30pm.
On the first day of the New Year, which is tomorrow morning, she will work on a shift from 5am to 1pm.
"My 16-year-old daughter helps me prepare for Tet," Huong said, when asked about how she manages her housework responsibilities, along with her professional schedule.
"My job is to keep this section of Hoang Hoa Tham St. clean. That includes the area from the Ha Noi Beverage Company, which produces the city's famed Truc Bạch beer, to the Tuberculosis Hospital. The total length of the street is 1 kilometre and Huong has to clean both sides of the pavement.-- VNS
