HCM CITY (VNS) — The Ho Chi Minh City Students Assistance Centre yesterday presented free bus tickets to 2,600 students to help them return to their homes for the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The students, including relatives of policy beneficiaries, people from ethnic minority groups and those living far from their hometowns and villages who could not celebrate Tet with their families for years, received free bus tickets under the centre's programme entitled "Spring Buses".

This year, the organising panel has put 44 to 50 buses in service for the same programme.

The centre's Director Quach Hai Dat said that over the past 14 years, nearly 35,000 needy students have received free tickets to help them celebrate the Tet holiday with their families.—VNS
