QUANG TRI (VNS) — The Republic of South Korea will help improve socio-economic development in Quang Tri and Lao Cai provinces through a programme started on Friday.
An Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) loan of US$23.7 million from South Korea, the programme will be implemented by the Korea International Co-operation Agency in Viet Nam following a Korean model.
The programme includes many subprogrammes in poverty reduction, income, health and education, environment improvement and public service reform.
In Quang Tri, 100 pilot projects will be started with ideas contributed by local residents, such as health station improvement, support for an agricultural college and growing trees to provide storm resistance.
In the northern Lao Cai Province, the programme will focus on improving the lives of ethnic people by building 500 kilometres of rural roads, student dormitories and training health workers. — VNS
