Binh Thuan coach collision kills 10

BINH THUAN (VNS) — Ten people were killed and nine injured when two coaches collided in the Binh Thuan Province early this morning.

The bodies of the victims and the injured persons were transported to Ham Thuan Nam Hospital and the province's General Hospital for treatment respectively.

The accident occurred when a coach, with registration number 51B14122, travelling from Ho Chi Minh City to Ha Noi, collided with another coach travelling in the opposite direction.

The first coach that was on the left side of the road pushed the other coach, which then hit a local resident's house. The front sides of the two coaches were badly damaged.

Authorities arrived on the spot to regulate the traffic and block off the scene of the accident and the property of the victims.

Most of the passengers on the coach with registration number 51B141122 were travelling to their hometowns in Nghe An Province for the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

The provincial authorities have provided financial assistance to the families of the deceased and the injured, and have pledged to arrange a car for all passengers who want to travel to Nghe An.

The cause of the accident is being investigated. — VNS
