HA NOI (VNS) — Passengers waiting in the lounges of Ha Noi's three major bus stations at My Dinh, Giap Bat and Gia Lam will soon have access to free WiFi Internet services.

The new service may be rolled out before Tet (Lunar New Year), a time when these stations typically see increased passenger numbers.

Nguyen Tung Anh, director of Ha Noi Bus Station Joint Stock Company, told the online newspaper Dan Tri that the company was working with Internet service providers to expedite the project.

He also asked the newspaper to warn bus passengers about scam websites falsely claiming to represent the My Dinh, Giap Bat and Gia Lam bus stations and attempting to sell coach tickets online.

Tung Anh affirmed that these bus stations, managed by his company, did not offer an online ticketing service; instead, tickets can only be purchased at the ticket office.

The first bus station in Viet Nam to offer free WiFi service was the Mien Tay Bus Station in Binh Tan District, HCM City.

Kieu Nam Thanh, the director of this station, said that the free WiFi service had started on January 8 within the station's newly built 900sq.m. hall, but he claimed that after Tet, its reach would be expanded to cover 47,000sq.m. so that the passengers on board buses, waiting to disembark, could also connect to the Internet. — VNS
