HA NOI (VNS) — The Ha Noi Air Traffic Control Centre, worth more than VND750 billion (US$35.1 million), was inaugurated yesterday.

The centre, spread over 20,600sq.m, is located in Long Bien District's Bo De Ward, about 30km from the Noi Bai International Airport.

Modern technical systems have been installed at the centre to overcome the limitations of the Ha Noi Area Control Centre.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Transport Minister Dinh La Thang said that Viet Nam has enjoyed strong safety records in flight management and administration over the past 20 years.

The new, modern and global centre will help improve the country's aviation infrastructure and ultimately increase the quality of flight management services, Thang added.

The minister asked the Northern Air Traffic Management Company to ensure the safe and effective operation of the centre towards strengthening fight safety and reducing the number of delayed or cancelled flights.

Last Sunday, the flight control and administration was successfully shifted from the Ha Noi Area Control Centre to the new Air Traffic Control Centre. — VNS
