DA NANG (VNS) — The Azamara Quest became the first cruise ship to land in Da Nang in the new year when it docked at Tien Sa Port on Friday, carrying over 600 passengers from the UK, Germany, the US and other countries.

About half of the ship's passengers will take tours of the Vietnamese landscape in Hue, Hoi An and Da Nang, while the other half will take time to visit Da Nang, shop and learn about the city's cultural heritage.

The ship, which departed from Hong Kong, continued on to HCM City on Saturday. Before Da Nang, the Azamara Quest visited Ha Long Bay, a world natural heritage in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

The visit was arranged by Viet Nam's leading tour operator, Saigontourist.

Last month, Singapore's Wind StarCruiser brought 100 tourists to Da Nang, and then travelled to Hai Phong and Hong Kong. The ship returned to Tien Sa Port on Saturday before starting the journey back to Singapore. — VNS
