Orbis to fund eye care project in central VN

THUA THIEN-HUE (VNS) – Orbis' Flying Eye Hospital will train 160 doctors and 70 orderlies in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue through seminars and the sharing of experiences.

Some 15 engineers and technicians will also take part in training courses to learn how to maintain and operate modern ophthalmology equipment under a project funded by the non-governmental organisation.

The project, to begin in early 2015, has a total investment of VND4.8 billion (US$225,600), of which Orbis funded over VND4.4 billion ($210,000).

Around 140 patients will be provided with vision screenings and treatment, while another 60 will receive operations to regain their eyesight. — VNS
