Australian heroin mule seized at airport

HCM CITY (VNS) — An Australian national was caught attempting to transport 379.69 grams of heroin at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, reported the municipal customs department.

The seized traveler, 37, destined for Melbourne, Australia last Tuesday, was discovered hiding more than VND1.1 billion (US$51,700) of heroin in a body cavity.

According to the Police Department for Drug-related Crimes (C47) at the Ministry of Public Security, over 20 drug trafficking cases were detected at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in the first nine months of the year.

The police seized 14 suspects, 7.7 kilos of heroin, 13 kilos of cocaine, four kilos of methamphetamine and nearly 40 kilos of drug precursors. — VNS
