Border police arrest Chinese man for drug trafficking

QUANG NINH (VNS) — Border guards in the northern Quang Ninh Province on Tuesday arrested a Chinese man for smuggling drugs from China to Viet Nam through the Mong Cai Border Gate.

The guards found that Chen Sheng Ji, 55, was hiding 975gm of ecstasy in his luggage.

Initial investigation revealed that Chen had been hired to take the drug to a man, known only as Thang, in Ha Long City.

The case is under further investigation.

Since early September, the Mong Cai Border Gate police have discovered six cases of drug trafficking from China to Viet Nam, and have seized about 16kg of drugs. — VNS
