HA NOI (VNS) — Ha Noi will conduct a comprehensive survey this year to measure citizen satisfaction with public administration.

The survey will cover six areas: granting identity cards, issuing land use rights certificates, certifying papers and documents, granting house construction permits, issuing birth certificates and granting marriage registration certificates.

City officials hope that this will help Ha Noi identify areas that must be improved and expand the role of residents in monitoring the progress of administrative reforms.

The Ha Noi Institute for Socio-Economic Development Studies will work with city departments and districts to conduct the survey.

Under a plan recently approved by Deputy Chairman of Ha Noi People's Committee Le Hong Son, Ha Noi will issue 5,400 survey cards, which can be filled out between August 15 and November 11. The results will be announced within the first quarter of 2015.

Deputy Chairman Son said Ha Noi aimed for at least 80 per cent of residents to feel satisfied with administrative reforms by 2015.

A regulation issued in June called for staff in public offices to increase their work ethics and professionalism, listen attentively to residents' concerns and explain administrative procedures clearly.— VNS
