HA NOI (VNS) — The Ha Noi Preventive Medicine Centre yesterday warned about an outbreak of dengue fever in Cau Giay District's Yen Hoa Ward.
Centre director Nguyen Nhat Cam said that eight people have reportedly been infected, adding that this was the first dengue outbreak reported in the city this year.
The centre and the local authorities are taking measures to isolate the area to prevent the spread of the disease.
Eighty-six dengue cases have been reported in the city this year, half the number of cases reported during the same period last year.
Cam warned that there was a high risk of a larger outbreak of dengue in the next three months, following the emergence of vulnerable areas where groups of people have reportedly been infected.
He said that the city's Health Department plans to take drastic preventive measures across the city, particularly in the urban and suburban districts, including Thanh Tri and Thuong Tin. — VNS
