Quang Tri police seize explosive powder

QUANG TRI (VNS) — The local police in the central Quang Tri Province seized 800 kilograms of explosive powder from two persons last night.

The police first caught Phan Van Tuy, 57, of Quang Binh Province when he was allegedly transporting 152 kilograms of the explosive material illegally in his car.

Tuy reportedly told the police that he had bought the explosive powder, which costs VND120,000 (US$6) per kilogram, from a man named Tran Trung Dang from Quang Tri.

Later, the police seized 679 kilograms of the explosive material from Dang's house.

Dang reportedly told the police that he had bought the explosive powder from other persons in the province.

The police are investigating the case further. — VNS
