Director arrested for role in quarry deaths

PHU THO (VNS) — Police in the northern province of Phu Tho on Monday arrested and prosecuted Tran Van Voi, director of Tran Phu Commercial and Investment Ltd. Co., for allowing the illegal use of explosives, which led to two workers' deaths.

On June 25, two quarries in Chieng and Giac hamlets in Thu Cuc Commune, Tan Son District sudddenly collapsed due to landslides. Four days later, the bodies of the victims were found by the local rescue team.

Tran Phu Company's license to use explosives expired last year, according to the local investigative police.

The investigation is ongoing. — VNS
