THUA THIEN-HUE (VNS) — A plane had been recovered from the sea off the coast of Lang Co town in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, the local administration announced yesterday.
The plane was believed to have plunged into the sea near Phu Loc District, 60km south of Hue, during the war.
The administration has yet to identify the plane as American or French.
Ba Hop Company, which won the rights to recover the plane, said the engines and tyres had been sent to the company's warehouse in Da Nang, while other parts were being examined at Phu Loc's military headquarters.
Landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance is taking place in the area ahead of the long holiday this week. — VNS
