Briefings on jet search suspended

Update: March, 15/2014 - 10:58

PHU QUOC (VNS)— The Phu Quoc search and rescue steering committee has decided to suspend the regular daily press briefing on search and rescue activities for reporters from today.

Speaking at a press conference at the press centre yesterday, Doan Huu Gia, the deputy general director of Viet Nam Air Traffic Management Corporation, noted that Viet Nam had not yet received any new information about the missing Malaysian aircraft.

Information about the search activities will be provided via two hotlines that had been earlier set up (0773846704 and 0773847508) until any further information about the missing plane is received, according to Gia.

Three An-26 aircraft, one CASA plane, and seven naval vessels were involved in the search operations yesterday. Search and rescue activities will continue today.

Gia emphasized that Viet Nam was willing to expand its area of search beyond its territorial waters if it received any requests from other related countries. — VNS
