BINH DUONG — Six endangered monkeys were rescued in southern Binh Duong Province on Monday by a joint inspection team from the Forest Protection Sub-department and environmental police.

The two red-faced monkeys (Macaca arctoides) and four pig-tailed ones (Macaca nemetrina) were being illegally held by the management board of the Binh Duong New City Project in Thu Dau Mot city.

These animals belong to Group IIB, the group of rare animals restricted from being held in captivity, hunted, traded or killed, according to Deputy Head of the Forest Protection Sub-department Tran Van Nguyen. — VNS
