KHANH HOA (VNS)— A Belgian national, who has been on the wanted list of Interpol since 2006 for sexual abuse, has been arrested in the central province of Khanh Hoa.

Pelsener Didier, 75, was captured on December 19 by Khanh Hoa police, while withdrawing cash at an automated teller machine on Hung Vuong street in Nha Trang city.

According to Interpol, Pelsener had sexually abused his adopted daughters for a long time before being discovered in 2006.

Pelsender used a fake Venezuelan passport under the name of Luis Beltran Gonzalez to enter Viet Nam in late 2007 through the HCM City-based Tan Son Nhat international airport.

During his stay in Viet Nam, he often travelled between the southern province of Dong Nai and the central provinces of Binh Thuan and Khanh Hoa.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case. — VNS
