BINH DUONG (VNS)— Streets in the centre of Thu Dau Mot City in southern Binh Duong Province were flooded early this morning, as high tides peaked at 1.68 metres high – the highest level in 61 years.

The high tides occurred in busy trading areas, including Thu Dau Mot Market and Bach Dang Street and Ngo Quyen Street along Sai Gon River, causing businesses to be disrupted.

Meanwhile, last night high tides overflowed the 16-km-long dyke in Hiep Binh Chanh Ward, HCM City's Thu Duc District. Hundreds of area residents in surrounding households had to move their furniture out of rising waters and evacuate their homes during the night.— VNS
