HA NOI (VNS) — A memorandum of understanding (MOU) on co-operation in education and training between Viet Nam and Australia for the 2013-18 period was signed yesterday in Ha Noi.

Signatories were Viet Nam's Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan and Australia's Ambassador to Viet Nam Hugh Borrowman.

The co-operation includes exchanges of experts, managers and administrators between educational institutions as well as various programmes and projects.

The renewal of the MOU, first signed in 1994, was a significant milestone in diplomatic relations between the two countries, said Borrown.

Over the past 40 years, more than 40,000 Vietnamese have studied in Australia. Viet Nam currently has more students in Australia than any other country in Southeast Asia, with about 22,000. — VNS
