HCM CITY (VNS)— The HCM City authority will inspect all 25 State-run enterprises under the control of the municipal People's Committee to detect violations of labour and salary regulations.

The city's Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and departments and branches on Wednesday set up five inter-branch inspection teams responsible for checking labour and salaries, including those of directors and managers, paid between between 2010 and 2012.

Each team is expected to spend three to four days examining recruitment procedures, signing of labour contracts between employers and employees, labour contracts, social insurance regimes and overtime work at five SOEs.

The inspection teams will also make a complete check of labour norms and de facto use of labour at these 25 SOEs.

Turnover, profits, wage funds, salaries and bonuses of both leaders and labourers will be the main content checked by the inspection teams.

The inspection results will be reported to the municipal People's Committee along with agencies' proposals on labour, salary and public service policies, before November 10.

Recently, a number of SOEs were found to have disobeyed labour and salary regulations.

Some of them involved leaders of four public companies in HCM City. They were accused of embezzlement of employees' salaries.

The leaders, who had received annual salaries of VND9 2.6 billion (US$123,809), have been suspended from their jobs and are awaiting punishment for their violations. — VNS
