Smuggled antique clocks seized in Ha Noi

HA NOI (Biz Hub)– Police in Ha Noi, in co-ordination with a local market-watch team, seized a large quantity of smuggled antique and imitation antique clocks, worth billions of dong, yesterday

This followed the seizure of about 60 similar clocks, many valuable chandeliers and candle-stands yesterday morning. The goods were detected in a lorry stopping in Kim Dong Street in Hoang Mai District.

The owner of the goods, Nguyen Duc Nang, could not produce any sales invoices for the clocks.

Police said that some clocks sold for between VND20-30million (US$950-1,430) each, some even for up to VND100million ($4,750). They are believed to have been illegally imported from Thailand and Belgium.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case. – VNS
