HCM CITY (VNS)— The final span of the Sai Gon 2 Bridge in HCM City was connected yesterday and it is expected to open to traffic by early November.
The bridge will help reduce the severe overload on the existing Sai Gon Bridge next to it connecting Districts 2 and Binh Thanh.
It is 987 meters long and 23.5 meters wide and will have six lanes.
Construction under the build-transfer format began in April 2012 at an estimated cost of nearly VND1.5 trillion (US$71.4 million). — VNS
