Viettel sponsors heart checks for children

Update: May, 31/2013 - 11:00

HCM CITY (VNS)— Around 1,000 children under 16 years of age will receive free health checks for heart diseases by June 15 under a project sponsored by national telecom giant Viettel.

The health checks, carried out by doctors from HCM City and Ha Noi between May 18 and June 15, will benefit children from the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, the northern province of Dien Bien and the Mekong Delta's Can Tho City.

The project, which marks the International Children's Day (June 1), aims to spot heart problems at an early age because they can be treated early as well, giving those afflicted the opportunity to grow up as normal kids. — VNS
