Health worker dismissed

HA NOI ― A health worker from a clinic run by the Ha Noi Centre for Preventive Medicine was dismissed for retaining half a vaccine shot while injecting a baby last month.

Ha Noi Health Department director Nguyen Khac Hien told the media of the dismissal yesterday and gave the official decision this morning.

On April 19, the worker Bui Thi Phuong Hoa, was allegedly caught retaining 0.2ml of an 0.5ml Pentaxim vaccine shot while injecting a five-month-old baby.

The baby's father had been keeping an eye on the procedure and reported the theft.

The vaccine was to prevent diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, poliomyelitis and Hib infection.

Departmental chief inspector Nguyen Viet Cuong said that the case would be further investigated to find if more people are involved. ― VNS
