High speed crash kills seven

BINH THUAN (VNS)— Seven people were killed and ten others injured in a high speed head-on collision between a container truck and a bus in An Binh Hamlet, Song Phan Commune in Binh Thuan Province's Ham Tan District on Saturday.

The accident took place at 8:50am when the container truck, with registration 61C-064.99 under the HCM City-based Transportation JSC No 2 heading from HCM City to Phan Thiet collided with the bus, with licence number 86H – 4479 operated by Trung Nga Co running in the opposite direction, according to Ham Tan District Police.

The collision killed six people on the spot and another victim died at the hospital. The ten injured people were rushed to Binh Thuan General Hospital for emergency aid.

Police said the two vehicles were travelling at high speed when they collided head on.

The 37-year-old driver of the container truck, Nguyen Van Quy, was being held in custody for further questioning during an investigation into the accident.

Six killed in bus crash

On the same day, six people were killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Highway No 1A in southern Long An Province.

The police said the truck carrying soft drinks from HCM City to Tien Giang Province crashed past the concrete median strip and collided with the bus that was en route to HCM City. The injured were taken to Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City and Long An General Hospital. — VNS
