Ministry recognises outstanding students

HCM CITY(VNS)— The Ministry of Education and Training will award certificates of merit to 1,235 outstanding high school students who scored high marks on a national academic contest in the 2012-13 school year.

Ffifty-three students got first prize; 400, second prize; and 782, third prize.

In addition to a certificate of merit, the first-prize winners would receive VND1 million (US$47.6); second-prize winners, VND700,000($33); and third-prize winners, 400,000 ($19).

Ha Noi had the highest number of prizes, with 91, including nine first-prize winners. It was followed by Hai Phong City, the provinces of Nghe An, Hai Duong, Thanh Hoa, Vinh Phuc and Hung Yen, and HCM City.

Provinces in the northwestern, southwestern and the Central Highlands region had fewer winners. — VNS
