Construction begins on City flyover

Update: February, 06/2013 - 00:00
HCM CITY (VNS)— Ground was broken yesterday for the construction of a flyover at one of HCM City's busiest intersections in Tan Binh District.

The two-lane flyover, at the Hoang Van Thu- Cong Hoa-Truong Son intersection, will be 244m long and 6.5m wide.

It will allow vehicles of less than 16 tonnes head to the city from Cong Hoa Street.

To cost VND121 billion (US$5.8 million), it will be built in four months.

Nguyen Huu Tin, deputy chairman of the city People's Committee, said the flyover would help ease traffic flow in one of the most congested spots in the city.

The city is planning to build 10 other flyovers to ease congestion at all hot spots.

Last month, two flyovers opened to traffic at the Thu Duc and Hang Xanh intersections as a Tet gift to commuters. — VNS
