HCM CITY (VNS)— The Vietnam Mennonite Church (VMC) has concluded its second general conference in HCM City.
The two-day event attracted more than 400 delegates, including 212 dignitaries and followers from 24 cities and provinces.
Addressing the conference on Wednesday Nguyen Thanh Xuan, Deputy Head of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, declared that the State continually implements policies that respect and ensure people's rights to religious freedom, and encourage progressive religious activities that benefits the nation and people.
This year's conference reviewed the 2008-12 operational period, allowed members to elect a new Executive Board for the second tenure, and adopted the 2012-16 working plan.
The VMC was recognised by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs as a religious organisation in September 2007. It received State recognition of its legal status in February 2009.
During its operation, dignitaries and followers from the Church's have worked with people nationwide to contribute to the cause of national construction and protection. — VNS
