HA NOI (VNS)— Long-suffering residents in Phu My have finally received a clean water supply after years of drinking water laced with highly toxic arsenic.
Ha Noi Real Estate Investment Joint Stock Company (C'Land) on Thursday announced the company has started supplying running water from the Da River to tenement blocks in Phu My, My Dinh Commune, Tu Liem District.
The news followed residents' complaints that the water they've used for several years has been below acceptable hygiene standards.
A recent test by the Chemistry Institute found the water contained between 37-42 times more than the acceptable level of arsenic.
According to Lao dong (Labour) newspaper, the company did not agree with the test's result, and they are waiting for the outcome of further checks due in a couple of days.-VNS
