Toxic wine accounts for poisoning fatalities

HA NOI (VNS) Contaminated wine causes more than a quarter of food poisoning deaths each year, according to the Viet Nam Administration of Food Safety, Ministry of Health.

The surprise figures show toxic wine accounts for 26 per cent of deaths, despite only making up 3.4 per cent of all food poisoning cases.

The administration's statistics also show that 62 per cent of traffic accident victims have a high concentration of alcohol in their blood, while high alcohol levels are also present in 34 per cent of traffic fatalities. — VNS
