BINH PHUOC —Vietnamese police are investigating the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl from southern Binh Phuoc Province's Dong Phu District.
She was returned to her parents four days later after they paid a ransom of US$714.
The girl was allegedly taken to Cambodia on June 18. Two days later, the parents reported the case to police.
According to them, a girl from the same commune called for their daughter to go to southern Binh Duong Province to visit a friend.
However, she was allegedly taken by a group of youngsters over the border to Cambodia on June 20.
The kidnappers later called her parents demanding US$3,000 or they would sell the girl.
But her parents went to Moc Bai International Border Gate and paid them VND15 million ($714) a ransom to free the kidnapped girl. The girl returned to her family on June 22. — VNS
