HA NOI — A 3.2km flyover connecting Thanh Xuan intersection to the north of Linh Dam Lake and a 50-km Cau Gie-Ninh Binh Highway intersection are set to open on June 30.
The flyover is part of a larger project of a 9-km stretch of four lanes from Mai Dich Street to the north of Linh Dam Lake worth VND5.5 trillion (US$266 million).
The construction group, including Civil Engineering Construction Company No 4 (Cienco 4), Cienco 8 and Thang Long Construction Corporation, first kicked off work in June 2010.
Khuong The Duy, deputy director of Thang Long Construction Corporation, said 97 per cent of the workload had been completed.
The lighting system had also been installed, he added.
Hiroaki Mukaichi, supervising director, said the quality of the flyover was ensured despite construction finishing five months ahead of schedule.
Vu Xuan Hoa, director of the management board, said the flyover would reduce traffic congestion from Linh Dam Lake to Thanh Xuan intersection.
On the same day, the Ministry of Transport also plans to open the 50-km Cau Gie-Ninh Binh Highway connecting Ha Noi and Ninh Binh Province, designed with six lanes and a speed of 100-120kmh.
Road users are expected to save more time travelling from Ha Noi to Ninh Binh when the highway intersection opens.
The Viet Nam Expressway Corporation started the highway's construction in 2006 with a budget of around VND8.9 trillion ($431 million). — VNS
