HCM CITY — HCM City has always created the best possible conditions for religious followers, including Muslims, to join in public activities for the development of the city and the country.
Vice Chairman of the HCM City People's Committee Le Minh Tri made the statement while receiving a delegation from Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance yesterday.
Tri praised the activities of the city's Muslim community, which numbers only 5,500, especially for its charitable work in poverty reduction and education.
He confirmed that the city would provide better conditions for the community, particularly by improving the quality of educational services for Muslim children.
Leader of the Saudi Arabian delegation, Dr Abduallah Fahad Allehaidan, Advisor to the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance, said he was pleased to see the decent living standards of Muslims in HCM City.
He said he hoped the city would provide more support for the Muslim community, so that they could act as a bridge to promote Vietnamese-Saudi Arabian relations. — VNS
