THUA THIEN-HUE — The central province of Thua Thien-Hue will pour VND80 billion (US$3.8 million) from the State budget into the construction of 1km-long embankments to help protect Hai Duong Commune and Thuan An town from erosion.
Serious sea erosion occurred in Hai Duong, Huong Tra District last April, leaving a 600m-long and 30m-deep encroachment on the mainland. A lighthouse was swept away due to the erosion.
Sixty-five households in Hai Tien Village, Thuan An Town have been threatened due to 400m-long sea encroachment.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2013. — VNS
