QUANG NGAI — A temporary market, built after the central facility burnt down, will officially commence trading this Saturday, according to the provincial People's Committee.
Located on Pham Van Dong Street and covering over 7,000 square metres, the market will provide more than 1,830 kiosks to more than 1,420 traders, with at least 425 household businesses re-starting operations after last month's disaster.
The VND10 billion (US$480,000) market was built by the Quang Ngai Agricultural Products and Foodstuff JSC.
Local authorities agreed to support 425 seriously affected household businesses with VND7.5 billion ($360,000).
Quang Ngai Market, the largest in the province, suffered damage worth over VND200 billion ($9.5million, putting the businesses of more than 1,600 traders on hold.
Traders, mostly uninsured, reported losses of VND200 to 250 million each. — VNS
