HA NOI – Thieu Kim Ngan (Monica Thieu), an 18-year-old Vietnamese American student at the University of North Texas, recently won the Jeopardy Championship.
Ngan won the top prize of US$100,000 on the American television quiz show. She beat 14 other American students to become the youngest winner since the show debuted in 1989.
She plans to use most of the money to pay her tuition fees.
According to the show's official website, www.jeopardy.com, Sarah Bart, of Goucher College was the runner-up and walked away with a $50,000 while third-place winner Zack Terrill, of Vanderbilt University, won $25,000.
The quiz show plays to 25 million viewers weekly. – VNS
