LAO CAI (VNS)— Police in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai have arrested a 30-year-old woman for possession of weapons.

Do Minh Hue confessed that the made-in-China weapons had been transported illegally into Viet Nam to sell in lowland provinces.

The smuggled weapons include 38 swords, 12 knives, 19 pepper sprays, 24 iron sticks and eight toy guns.

Previously, two women from the province's Bao Thang District were arrested for storing and trading over 800 kilos of firecrackers which have been banned in the country since 1995. — VNS
