Ceremony lathers up for Hand-Washing Day

HA NOI (VNS)— It was all hands to the soap pump on Saturday, when leading figures from the Health Sector led a ceremony to mark Global Hand-Washing Day.

The event, entitled "Clean hands save lives", was held by the Ministry of Health in partnership with the United Nations Fund for Children, the Unilever Foundation and the Population Services International in Viet Nam.

Vice Chairman of the Unilever Foundation Tran Vu Hoai said the foundation would continue to grant VND50 billion (US$2.4 million) towards a 5-year programme to strengthen community awareness on the importance of personal hygiene habits in Viet Nam up to 2016. — VNS
