Landslide victims get support in Yen Bai

YEN BAI (VNS)— More than VND1.5 billion (US$73,000) had been donated to landslide victims in La Pan Tan Commune, Mu Cang Chai District in the northern mountainous Yen Bai Province as of Thursday.

The September 7 landslide left 20 casualties in Trong Pa Trang Village, mostly local indigenous people who had been collecting left-over tin ore at the nearby mine.

Part of the donation will be used to support the studies of 20 students whose parents died in the accident, while some will be used to build new schools, local authorities said.-VNS
