Deputy PM orders dam inspections

QUANG NAM (VNS) — Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has instructed Electricity of Viet Nam to regularly check the security of the Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Plant's dam in central Quang Nam Province after earthquakes which rocked the area.

He also asked the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Viet Nam Science and Technology Institute to conduct a detailed study on the geological and earthquake conditions of the Bac Tra My District area, where the plant is located.

From August 17-September 7, 15 earthquakes struck the area and the dam.-VNS
