Ha Noi demand for workers expected to increase
HA NOI — Supplies for the labour market are expected to increase strongly towards the end of the year, according to many employment agencies.
This is because the large number of new graduates will add to the growing number of unemployed and those with unstable jobs.
The Ha Noi Job Placement Centre said inexperienced people, especially graduates, would struggle to find suitable jobs in the current competitive labour market.
The Employment Assistance Centre of the Nguoi Lao Dong (Labourers) newspaper said companies in technical fields had an urgent demand for human resources, but few applicants came up to requirements.
In the meantime, the number of those applying for unemployment insurance at the Employment Assistance Centre is on the increase.
In July alone, nearly 2,600 people applied for unemployment insurance at the centre, an increase of 600 compared to June.
The situation is similar in HCM City. The city's Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information said 64 per cent of vacant jobs were for skilled employees with work experience.
Tran Anh Tuan, the centre's deputy head, said companies needed about 30,000 employees next month and that most of the jobs were in the fields of marketing-trading, IT, accountancy/audit, tourism-hotels, construction-architecture, electricity and communications.
He added that most fresh graduates could not find a job, and nearly half were considering jobs outside their chosen fields.
According to a recent report by Vietnamworks, online demand for human resources during the first half of the year decreased by 18 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Decreases in both HCM City and Ha Noi were reported to be around 12 per cent and 26 per cent respectively.
Vietnamworks said real estate, construction and interior design/decoration were sectors with the largest reduction in staff demand.
IT and software development, however, were recording demand for workers had increased by 9 per cent online during the first half of the year compared to the same period last year. — VNS
