Urban railway contractor sacked

HA NOI – A contractor on the new Nhon-Ha Noi railway line route has been sacked for failing to meet construction deadlines.

Vinaconex 2, a contractor on package 4 of line 3, is to be replaced after falling three months behind schedule.

The sacking was ordered by Ha Noi People's Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Khoi.

The city's Urban Railway Station Management Board has been assigned to propose a contractor to replace Vinaconex 2, which is an offshoot of the Viet Nam Construction and Import-Export Corporation.

The 12.5km section of railway, which includes 8.5km of aerial track, 4km of underground track and 12 stations, was kicked off in September, 2010. – VNS
