HA NOI - Viet Nam's team came second in the Asia Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robocon), which was held yesterday in Hong Kong, China.

With the theme "Pursuit of Peace and Prosperity", the contest attracted the attendance of 16 regional countries and territories with 17 teams.

The Vietnamese Robocon team, which included six students from Lac Hong University in southern Dong Nai Province, came into the final round of the tournament after defeating a Japanese team.

However, Viet Nam's only team in the competition became the first runner-up after being knocked out of the final round, while a team from China was crowned as the champions.

Japan and Thailand were the two 2nd runners-up.

The ABU Robocon, which requires robots to complete a task within a set period of time, is a yearly Asian Oceanian College robot competition, founded in 2002 by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.

The ABU Robocon 2013 will be held in Viet Nam with the theme The Green Planet. - VNS
