Factories fined for pollution

HA NOI — Seven factories in Noi Bai Industrial Zone have been fined a total of VND508 million (US$24,200) for polluting the environment following a month of inspections in the area.

Armstrong Co Ltd received the highest fine of VND310 million (US$14,800).

According to the Ha Noi Natural Resources and Environment Department, most of the violations involved illegally discharging waste water and failing to complete compulsory legal documents on environmental protection. — VNS
