S Korea helps upgrade IT college in Da Nang

HA NOI – The South Korean Government will help upgrade the Viet Nam-Korea Friendship Information Technology College in Da Nang City through an Official Development Assistance grant aid project of US$6.4 million.

The four-year project was signed today between the Viet Nam Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) and the Korean International Co-operation Agency in Viet Nam (KOICA).

The project to upgrade and expand the college will include the establishment of a new IT centre and laboratory along with provision of educational training equipment and development of educational programmes.

The college was built thanks to a South Korean government ODA grant of US$10 million. It has provided more than 800 graduates serving Da Nang City's demand for highly skilled human resources.

However, high-level human resources in the city are still in short supply, which is hindering the quality of ICT fieldwork training even with sufficient technical manpower.

The city's industrial complex is currently under construction, and is planned to not only produce many job opportunities, but also turn the city into a leading ICT hub in Viet Nam. – VNS
