Viet Nam to send guest workers back to Libya

Ha Noi – Viet Nam will send guest workers to Libya again this year following the resolution of its political crisis.

The return has the approval of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, who assigned the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work out a detailed plan for sending guest workers to Libya.

Deputy director of MOLISA's Department of overseas labourers Dao Cong Hai, who has just return from a business trip to Libya, said the socio-political situation there had returned to normal.

Viet Nam's business partners were again working in Libya and called on Vietnamese guest workers to work for them, Hai said.

The department has provided new licences for three Vietnamese labour export companies – Vinaconemec, Vitech and VTC Corp – to recruit 1700 guest workers to work in Libya this year.

Director of labour export company, Sona, Doan Dai Thanh said four out of 10 of his business partners had sent letters to ask Sona to provide the same amount of Vietnamese guest workers they had received from the company earlier.

In June, Sona had sent 18 guest workers to work in Libya in a pilot project. All the labourers worked for Ferrostall Industrienlagen GMBH, a German company, in Libya. They had good working and living conditions, Hai said.

Re-entering the Libya labour market would help Viet Nam reach its target of sending 90,000 guest workers to work overseas this year.

In early 2011, when the political crisis occurred in Libya, Viet Nam had to bring all 10,000 Vietnamese guest workers in the country back home. – VNS.
