Campaign aims to change youth attitudes

HA NOI — A condom promotion campaign with the slogan "Yes! Condom" was launched yesterday in Ha Noi.

The 12-month HIV prevention project campaign was developed by the United States Agency for International Development.

It aims to help people protect themselves from HIV infection by normalising condom purchase, carrying and use behaviours among 18-32 year-old youths in urban areas of Viet Nam.

"In Viet Nam, the condom has been a sensitive topic. Stigma remains which limit people's ability to purchase, carry and use condoms," said Miss Viet Nam Mai Phuong Thuy, who attended the event.

The campaign will target urban adults including high risks groups in eight provinces with the highest HIV rate in Viet Nam, including An Giang, Can Tho, Hai Phong, HCM City, Lao Cai, Nghe An, Quang Ninh and Ha Noi.-VNS
